Justice in Worship

Bring a world of justice voices to Sunday worship with A Child Laughs, an anthology of reflections, liturgies, and prayers from seventy-seven writers in eleven different countries. Find meditations, worship resources, and action steps on topics of gun violence, addiction, chronic illness, migration, reproductive health, climate change, and more.

"A child’s laugh should be the butterfly wing, the ripple-maker, for all the world. There are many children crying—we hear them echoing from news media. It is time to pray for the change of the world in children’s laughter."

Praise for A Child Laughs

“A new gospel for a church deeply embedded in the world and a people looking to the Holy for hope and understanding. It faces squarely the most modern problems, peccadilloes, and pernicious evils that dog us, and help us to see the heaven crammed into earth, right here and now.”

  • The Rev. Molly Baskette, author of Real Good Church and Senior Minister, First Church Berkeley United Church of Christ

“Having known Tirabassi for many years, I had no doubt this compilation would be solid in terms of language, theology, and depth of content. I am thrilled to give it my most enthusiastic recommendation. I expect it to be a go-to resource for those who seek to embrace and proclaim a more just and generous expression of soulful living.”

  • The Rev. Bryan Sirchio, UCC minister and Founder/Director of Crosswind Music Ministries and The Convergence Music Project

“The scores of authors in this collection know that Jesus prioritized children not because they are adorable (not always) but because they are vulnerable; that Jesus’ welcome of such reinforced Isaiah’s vision of a child marshaling New Creation’s parade; and that the Abba whose authority Jesus wielded is most passionate and persistent over the fate of all at risk.”
